Escrow Trade Rules

TL;DR Enable Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator on your account for at least 7 days and have trade confirmations turned on to properly use Loot Market.

Anyone losing an item in a trade will be subject to new trade escrow rules. This means if you are sending Loot Market an item you would be subject to escrow and if we are sending you an item we would be subject to escrow. The exact escrow rules as stated by Steam and then updated by Steam:

  • Anyone losing items in a trade will need to have a Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator enabled on their account for at least 7 days and have trade confirmations turned on. Otherwise, items will be held by Steam for up to 15 days before delivery.
  • If you've been friends for at least 1 year, items will be held by Steam for up to 1 day before delivery.
  • Accounts with a Mobile Authenticator enabled for at least 7 days are no longer restricted from trading or using the Market when using a new device since trades on the new device will be protected by the Mobile Authenticator.
  • Steam Support will no longer restore items that have left accounts following a successful trade or market transaction (a process that previously created duplicates of original items).

What does this mean for Loot Market

Listing Items for Sale

If you are listing items for sale Loot Market will automatically reject any trade that would be put into escrow. We are doing this to prevent unnecessary delays in listing items. In order to keep the economy moving items should be listed quickly. If you try to list an item you will get the following message: “It appears that your item would be placed in escrow, please enable Steam Mobile Authenticator for 7 days”
